Roberto Henriquez Santa Cruz de Coya 100%
País, Bio Bio, Chile
Organic, biodynamic, hand harvested, spontaneously fermented, unfined, unfiltered, minimal SO2
Named for the Village where the Mapuches people finally turned the tide against the Spanish conquistadors, this wine is made from 200 year old (!) País vines. Roberto Henriquez farms the land himself, with the help of draft animals, and uses traditional Pipeno methods of vinification- direct crushing the grapes into open Rauli barrels, with the most minimal of intervention. The result is fresh, low tannin wine that's incredibly easy and fun to drink. Cherry an eucalyptus on the nose open up to a spicey, herbal palate. One of our favorites.
